My name is Valerie. I am currently a grad student in Communication Studies (interested in art institutions and the internet) who thrives in a realm of yummy smells, instant and speedy wifi, and the artists, designers and thinkers who make everything worthwhile. Welcome to my website.

Forestle: search engines go green

A “green” search engine, Forestle uses Google’s great system to perform searches - but as an added bonus, with each search they protect 0.1 m² of rainforest and have so far protected 467,587.0 m².  Every little bit helps, I think. They have a convenient search plugin you can install for that default search box at the top right of your browser (with an adorable green leaf icon), and you can set it as your homepage as well.  Still the same Google guts, but better green stuff going on for it, I highly recommend switching to Forestle as your default browser.

This is pretty darn cool. I’ll def start using it. Especially if they use the same tech as google.

Exactly - why not? I definitely uses Google’s system. We’ve managed to get lots of our friends to use it, so hopefully it will get more and more popular.
