New documentary: America the Beautiful

I have started to engage in feminist scholarship, which has been an eye-opening experience. While I have always considered myself a feminist, I have barely scratched the surface of reading some of the relevant texts. One of the areas I find interesting is body acceptance and the ways to look critically at the media’s construction of femininity and what constitutes female beauty. A new documentary, America the Beautiful, is an example of a film that attempts to understand this in American culture. Looks great! But to see it I will probably have to buy the DVD.
