Please note: This blog has gone portable as I abandon the still thawing Canada for a whirlwind four month journey around Europe.

I plan to post at least once a week to document my adventures as a solo female vegan art-loving traveller. Check out the map for geographical details of the trip in progress. Both the blog and the photos on Flickr will be updated as often as possible.

Knock-out your Friends with Chocolate Power

For a recent potluck I was inspired by the Yeah, That “Vegan” Shit blog (in celebration of the top recipes of 2007) to make two of her chocolate-y desserts. They are definitely going into the recipe binder (and Google Notebook) for repeat visits!

peanut butter cannonballs

Peanut Butter Cannonballs. Um, yeah - potentially the MOTHER of all peanut butter and chocolate desserts. While they look kind of ugly in this pic (we were in a rush and had trouble covering the chocolate properly), they were balls of ooey-gooey goodness. Reminding me of Reese Peanut Butter cups, but dare I say better. In the words of Lindyloo: “I made them a few years back, and they are, seriously, akin to eating sex. I know I sometimes hyperbolize (ok–OFTEN I do), but trust me on this one: when I served them on the 4th of July, they were greeted with orgasmic little moans from everyone.” At the party the entire tray was finished off completely!

Mexican chocolate cake

Mexican Chocolate Cake. I had eaten this once before, and I think this may be the same recipe. Delicious! And of course, one of the first times a proper cake has come out of my oven, so feeling accomplished and motherly over this little slice. With cayenne pepper and cinnamon, the chocolate is infused with a depth of flavour.
