Please note: This blog has gone portable as I abandon the still thawing Canada for a whirlwind four month journey around Europe.

I plan to post at least once a week to document my adventures as a solo female vegan art-loving traveller. Check out the map for geographical details of the trip in progress. Both the blog and the photos on Flickr will be updated as often as possible.

Menu Prep and Taking a Break to ‘Clear my Cache’

I have the day off today - it’s a nice break to give me a bit of a breather. Speaking of breathing, or in my case, really learning how to breathe - I got up early and trekked over to yoga - turns out it much harder to do with thick snow on the ground and the much colder air. Frustrated with several poses which seemed impossible to do with my body… but I’m moving on. Right now drinking lemon-Rooibos tea in Bridgehead and preparing for dinner tomorrow. So far the meal looks like it will start with 101 Cookbook’s Whipped Chickpea Hummus (made green with spinach) and Fat Free Kitchen’s Shiny Happy Hummus (orange from carrots!) on gluten free (spelt) crusty bread or with veggies. So a very colourful set of appetizers. Then for the main meal, the good ol’ Curry Split Pea soup from Real Food Daily. For dessert we’ll have multiple choices. 1: pomegranate and mandarin orange salad, 2: skinny figgy bars (low sugar, again Fatfree Vegan), 3) Banana coconut bars (Fatfree Vegan), 4) small side of Fresh cranberry sorbet. Okay, I know. A lot of desserts! But I wanted to have choices for everyone, and I really want to wow my family. The challenge is that we have one person eating gluten free, and several people needing very low sugar options. Unfortunately, since I can’t find my camera charger, it may mean no pics of this meal!

In other news, I’m trying to get back into my luxurious reading habit by putting some books on hold at my local library. Looking forward to really jumping into a hearty reading list, and of course drinking lots of tea while I’m at it - since winter has begun, looks like I’m getting into a real tea kick.

At any rate, found … around:
