Dan Piraro of Bizarro Comics: Why Vegan?
I’ve been much more social lately than normal, really enjoying getting to know amazing people through the vegan community. Sometimes I just want to stay at home, so it’s great that I’m being pushed to meet new people, which is always a worthwhile experience. Last night there was yet another potluck (so help my waistline), where I got to know the awesome Diana a lot better. After a few privacy hurdles we managed to befriend each other on Facebook, and I was enthralled to see that she had stocked up her profile with tons of useful links on many different issues such as animal rights, human rights, politics, etc. So I am slowly following the links, excited to get some great resources on different issues I’ve been meaning to read more about regularly.
Taking my cue from her I perused Dan Piraro’s website for his comic Bizarro, one I’ve seen from time to time in weekly newspaper sections. In his site he has an entire section devoted to “animal stuff,” where he succinctly and effectively explains why he is a vegan - and why everyone else should be too. He also includes several comics where he touches on animal rights issues. I think these explanations he has put together are great resources for quickly and simply explaining why this lifestyle makes sense. I will be linking to the images here for easy access, and also a few comics which I felt were particularly effective. These are all taken directly from the website, and are thus copyrighted to Dan Piraro. Simply click on the smaller images to see the enlarged and detailed versions.
