Curbly: What is with all of the candy corn?
Okay, so I admit to having an interest in home decor, design, and architecture. This leads to me to read a variety of design sites, and one in particular, Curbly, features all user contributed content on renovations, crafting tips, lifestyle improvement ideas, and more. While I find there are a lot of things I skim through, I will often come across some great posts. Well, on a late perusal I found an unusual amount of entries on different manifestations of candy corn. Some strange, halloween obsession has infiltrated curbly! I decided to investigate and pull out all of the candy corn goodness, so I could share.
Each month, Curbly posts a challenge to help inspire DIY home improvement ideas. Well, for the month of October:
Thus, the item o’ choice for the October Curbly Challenge is: Candy Corn. The Challenge: Transform these corn syrupy wedges into something seasonally superior for your home. Or, take a cue from its traditional three color stripes, and use it as an aesthetic for you next creation.
I assume “you” in the last phrase is meant to be “your.” (Just thought I would point that out…I really hate typos. But I do have self control you know, I don’t always have to point them out. But I just thought I would because it’s in my blog. *ahem*). Anyway, I found the creations somewhat hilarious. People posted inspirational candy corn costumes, candy-corn cone head hat patterns, candy corn seen in nature (they’re seeing it everywhere!), and candy corn felted purses. Several people took the challenge head on, creating things like candy corn fondant decorations, candy corn cookies, and a candy corn teddy bear. My favourite for most insane effort spent on using candy corn for home beautification which is “seasonally superior,” is the candy corn decorated pumpkin. This person definitely deserves the prize, and a big fat A for effort! They admit that it looks like a blowfish, but I think it tops off the candy corn craze beautifully. And how did they pull this off? With a glue gun, and lots of patience.
